Quality Assurance Manager - USDA Canned Foods

Description:
A division of a $3.3B canned food giant, this position will oversee the Quality Assurance function / department of 2 USDA / FDA inspected food processing plants totaling 250,000 sq ft, processing consumer, food service and private label canned stews, chili, chicken and frozen vegetable products. 650 union, 2 / 10 hour shifts, 5 day.

Ensure quality assurance policies / procedures, TQM program, liaison with USDA / FDA regarding regulations that affect the facility and quality functions. Provide leadership to the quality department. Assure compliance to all seaming, retorting and HACCP requirements. Oversee supplier ingredients and supplies. Production operating procedures. Oversee audits and inquiries from USDA, USFDA, GDH, Weights and Measures. Prepare and maintain an annual operating budget for the plant Quality Assurance and Analytical Lab Departments. Lead the plants Quality Improvement efforts. Develop a proactive, data-driven, approach to problem solving and continuous improvement. Develop the appropriate KPI’s reporting to monitor progress. Support safety program elements, sensory evaluation training, kosher certification for ingredients and finished products.
Position reports to the Senior Operations Manager.

Salary Range: $80000-90000, Flex Bonus, corporate benefit program, 401K, vacation.

Requirements:

• Minimum Formal Education is a 4-Year Degree
• 7+ yrs experience in progressive Mfg Quality leadership experience high volume / food manufacturing with at mid-level leadership experience with a low acid canned foods manufacturing organization.
• Experience with USDA regulated products designing / leading world class quality programs. Strong leadership skills, SAP experience preferred.
• Other requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Micro-biology, Chemistry or Food Science related degree preferred).
